With sports betting fans participating, the NFL, America's favorite sport, is set to become the favorite sport of American bettors.
According to exclusive data provided by CRG Global for the Variety Intelligence Platform, four out of five mobile sports bettors placed a bet on the NFL in October. The next most popular sport is the NBA (54%), followed by MLB (44%, although there are fewer games to bet on in the postseason) and college football (34%). %)
CRG Global found that there is a direct correlation between betting and viewing, with two-thirds of mobile gamers reporting that they watch the NFL the most during a game.
An interesting finding from the VIP+ report is that among sports gamblers, NFL betting increases with age. This reflects a trend of less strong appeal and the NBA becoming more competitive, although it is one of the most popular sports among young consumers, though not by much.
The impact of the NFL can be seen in real terms when evaluating the total monthly wagers in states where sports betting is legal. With NFL postseason betting and the return of the regular season, only the NCAA's annual March Madness tournament can rival the allure of pro football.
Another interesting finding from the partnership between the Variety Intelligence Platform and CRG Global was that the majority of sports consumers who are NFL fans play average. The number of fans who never bet is much lower than in other sports, but the NFL rarely has a large percentage of fans who bet, perhaps only the occasional player who plays in big games and events.
Many games in the current NFL season have come down to the last play, increasing betting interest. He said most sports bettors will enjoy this year's game more if they don't offer any guesses, which means they'll be cautious until the teams leave the field.
